How to give access to your computer for remote desktop support

in order for a support technician to get acces to your home computer, we are going to need use google remote desktop. This is a free software made by google and it only requires your @gmail account and your permission for a technian to access your computer system.

I am going to explain to you few steps that you need to take in order to achieve that.

1 . Click to the following link and follow https://remotedesktop.google.com/access

You’ll see a screen like below.

Position yourself in Remote Access (1) and

– Click on « download » (2). Make sure you are using google chrome browser

After you click on download, you’ll see in your download folder a file called ‘chromeremotedesktop.msi’.

– Click that downloaded file and accept everything and install

2. Choose a name for your computer

This name is very important as it is the same name you’ll communicate to your remote technician. Give it a name as ‘x’s pc or x’s home pc or x’s hp-laptop, etc.’

– Clink on next

– Create a PIN. This PIN will be required by anyone you want to have access to your computer. Be carefull to type it and make it at least a minimum of 8 characters (mix of letters and number and, possibly with special characters (Remember that it is a password to access your own computer !

3, Communicate your COMPUTER NAME and the PIN to your technician

Request a remote support

Note: The below option needs you to be next to your computer in order to give access to the technician by accepting his/her request for connection.

Generate and communicate the access code to your technician by going to (3) and generating an access code.

Share your screen

Give the access code to your technician and be ready to accept his request to connect to your pc.
